Professional Summary

Dr. Kailash Chand Kumawat is a highly accomplished and globally recognized Agricultural Microbiologist with over a decade of dedicated research, teaching, and innovation in the fields of plant-microbe interactions, microbial biotechnology, and climate-resilient agriculture. Currently serving as Assistant Professor at the Department of Industrial Microbiology, Jacob Institute of Biotechnology and Bio-engineering (JIBB), Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS), Prayagraj, Dr. Kumawat’s work is at the forefront of sustainable agriculture, focusing on the development of novel microbial consortia and PGPR-based bioformulations to enhance crop productivity, mitigate abiotic stresses, and restore soil health.

He has led and submitted multiple high-value research proposals, guiding M.Sc. dissertations, and collaborating on multi-disciplinary initiatives aimed at addressing agricultural challenges under changing climatic conditions. His academic journey is marked by prestigious fellowships including ICAR-JRF, AVRDC-ICRISAT Student Fellowship, and multiple ARS-NET qualifications, along with the Best Ph.D. Thesis Award and Young Scientist Award for his pioneering work in salinity stress mitigation using microbial consortia.

Dr. Kumawat is a prolific scholar with over 30 peer-reviewed research articles published in high-impact international journals (Total Impact Factor >134; NAAS >248), more than 20 book chapters published by Springer, Elsevier, CRC Press, and Wiley, and active memberships in leading scientific societies such as AMI, WSSET, and the Asian PGPR Society. He serves as an editorial board member for multiple international journals and reviewer for reputed publishers.

With advanced skills in microbial isolation, molecular characterization, consortium biofertilizer development, and statistical and bioinformatics tools (SPSS, SAS, MEGA, BLAST), Dr. Kumawat integrates lab-to-field research with effective teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs. His gene bank contributions (e.g., strains of Pseudomonas, Rhizobium, Enterococcus, Bacillus) are widely cited and form the foundation for biofertilizer innovations.

He has presented his research globally, delivered invited lectures in Japan and Canada, and actively participates in international conferences and training programs. His unwavering commitment to scientific excellence, mentorship, and agricultural innovation positions him as a leading voice in microbiome-driven approaches for eco-friendly and sustainable agriculture.
