The Centre for Tissue Culture Technology was carved out from the parent Department, Molecular and Cellular Engineering with the objective of financial self-reliance in the Year 2022, through the funding received from UP state government under the scheme of RKVY and support from the University administration.
The commercial culture of banana has been initiated with the RKVY project granted to the faculty of the Centre. The Centre with its mandate in training young professionals for self-sustainability have formulated short term training programmes for both undergraduate and postgraduate candidates. The Centre is in the process of introducing diploma courses in the field of plant tissue culture.
The Centre is involved in teaching, research and extension activities. It supports the various courses which are running in various departments/colleges/institutes. The Centre has smart class room with LCD projector and state of art facilities for commercial production of in vitro raised saplings, training and research with well-equipped laboratories, shade net house, naturally ventilated and fully automated polyhouses. The faculty of the Centre is qualified from Nationally reputed Universities, with adequate skill and research experience.
The students are being trained and developed as entrepreneurs so that they are confident enough to setup their own lab and create jobs to others. The students can be well placed in various National and International centers of research in the areas of Plant Biotechnology, tissue culture and life sciences. They also have self-employment prospects in the field of greenhouse fabrication installation, operation and maintenance in India and Abroad. The Center is instrumental in developing skilled labour for nation building.
