Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences, Prayagraj has contributed significantly to the food security and overall development of the country through its committed research efforts based on state and national priorities. Innovative technological research is being continued to meet the diverse needs of farming community and society. Faculty members of the University have worked hard to develop 23 (twenty-three) high yielding, climate resilient, disease resistant, input responsive, area specific varieties of wheat, rice, maize and linseed, which have been released by ‘State Varietal Release Committee, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh. 16 varieties have been ‘Notified’ by Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India for seed production and general cultivation by the farmers of the state of Uttar Pradesh. 45 ‘Externally Funded Research Projects’ are presently running in the University. These externally funded projects have been funded by ICAR/DBT/DST/CST/UP-CST/Ministry of Agri./Novod Board/UPCAR etc.

• SHUATS has signed 56 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with various National and 35 MoU with International/Institutions/ Universities/Research organization to strengthen the academic the research of the university.
• 130 Ph.D. Scholars have been awarded degree by SHUATS in the discipline of Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Home Science, Forestry, Food & Dairy Technology, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnology during 2023-24.
• The University scientists has published 1050 research publications in various peer reviewed journals of national and international repute in the year 2023-24. Which have been indexed in Scopus/Google Scholar/Cite-Seer/ SCI/ ICI etc.
• University has specialized laboratories like Seed Testing Laboratory, National Referral Laboratory, Food Process Technology Laboratory, Tissue Culture Laboratory, Nano-Technology Laboratory and Remote Sensing and GIS Laboratory, which are directly addressing the issues of farming community in the state.
• To increase ‘Farm Mechanization in the state of U.P., farm implements like Adjustable Wheel Hoe Weeder, Maize Sheller, Potato Digger- Cum – Elevator, Fodder Harvester, Allahabad Yoke, Bullock Drawn Farm Yard Manure Spreader, Mule Drawn Plough/Cultivator/Seed drill, Low Cost Multi-Purpose Tool Frame etc. have been popularized and commercialized from SHUATS.
• Revolving Peedhi, Wheat and Rose Harvesting Costumes, for farm women of the state. Besides these Portable Solar Generator, Air Quality Monitoring System, Battery Operated Solar E-Rickshaw, 3-D Printer and generation of electricity from farm waste are some other notable research achievements of SHUATS.
• University scientists have developed, popularized and commercialized ‘Bamboo Flute Technology’ and Bamboo based Agro-forestry models. This technology has been well adapted by the Farmers of Sankargarh and Koraon villages of Eastern U.P. 
• University has 12 Patents, 15 Crop Varieties Registration Model Organic Farm, Microbial Culture Collection Bank, Agro-met services, Centre of Excellence on Maize and Centre of Excellence on Small Farm Implements.
• 291 P.G. and Ph.D. scholars of the University are receiving various National Fellowships like ICAR/UGC/Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship/ Maulana Azad Fellowship/ INSPIRE Fellowship Scholarship etc.

• Research contribution of SHUATS Scientists have been recognized by State Government/ ICAR/UPCAR/ National-International Societies and Professional bodies by conferring various awards and honors.
• One M.Sc. (Agronomy) student under the Advisory of Prof. (Dr.) Joy Dawson is getting research grant from IRRI for Master’s Thesis at ISARC, Varanasi.
• Twenty students are doing research internship each year at IRRI-South Asia Hub, Hyderabad out of which 3 students have been absorbed for employment there.
• IRRI has entered into MoU with SHUATS for research and capacity building. They have identified SHUATS for long term research collaboration for Rice.
• New Research Initiatives of SHUATS includes initiation of Vegetable Breeding, Research on Water Budgeting, Center of Excellence on Small Farm Implements, Nodal Center for Registration of Farmers Varieties of Eastern U.P., Establishment of ‘Community Seed Bank’ and formation of multi-disciplinary research working group that conducts/monitors and make recommendations on the optimal use and management of natural resources.
• SHUATS is producing 5000 q seeds of Wheat, 4000 q seeds of Paddy, 200 quintals of Pulses and oil seeds through farmer’s participation and supplying to the Department of Agriculture, Govt. of U. P. for distribution among farmers of the state.
